World War II Weekend in Reading, Pennsylvania June 1, 2, 3 2012
The World War II Weekend in Reading, PA presented by the Mid-Atlantic Air Museum is one of the finest displays of World War II military vehicles and war birds assembled. This is no static display, as you walk around the show military jeeps and vehicles zip around as war birds buzz overhead. Reenactors help to complete the picture as you are transported back in time.
We showed up on Saturday June 2nd and the weather was overcast and chilly but that didn't dampen the spirits of all those in attendance. This is the second year in a row that we attended this show and it sure doesn't disappoint. I am always taken back by all of the military jeeps and other military vehicles that can be seen in settings much like they would have appeared in during World War II. Military Jeeps with reenactors onboard can be seen making their way around to the different encampments that house the reenactors.
Reenactors American, German and French resistance have skirmishes in settings such as the recreated French village which is onsite. Guns popping with dummy rounds help ad to the realism. Also demoed during the day from a distance of course are flame throwers.
Overhead war birds put on fantastic aerobatic demonstrations throughout the day. P51 Mustangs, B17 flying fortress and also in the air was the world's only flying B29 bomber named FiFi just to name a few.
